Vladimir and Suzdal are unique old towns of the Golden Ring. With peaceful meadows and green fields, a gently wriggling river, ancient churches, and charming wooden houses, Suzdal will be a real wonder of the trip.
The tour combines sightseeing with several fun activities such as a boat ride, climbing the bell-tower and a master-class in the active smithy. The easiest way to reach Vladimir is by train. A train journey from Moscow lasts only 2 hours. You might also get to Vladimir from Saint Petersburg. It takes 6 hours to travel between the cities. Suzdal is not connected to the railroad, but the town looks more peaceful and rural thanks to that. However, it will take you only 30 minutes to get to Suzdal by car from the Vladimir city center.
The trip is available all year round, but if you travel not in summer, we’ll need to modify the itinerary slightly. Thus, the boat ride is available only in summer. Pokrova on the Nerl Church is not accessible in early Spring or Late Autumn.

Itinerary
Day 1
Vladimir
- Meet your driver in the morning to get to Kursky train station to catch a morning train to Vladimir
- Upon arrival to Vladimir, you will meet your guide and driver.
- Walk around the charming city center of Vladimir to learn its remarkable old history, admire its unique old cathedrals, and take in splendid panoramic views of the Klazma River. We will visit the active Smithy and learn how to forge the nail.
- Lunch break
- Drive to Bogolyubovo village to see the most iconic church of the Golden Ring. Walking through the meadows, we will stop many times to admire the 12th-century Pokrova-on-the-Nerl Church of the 12 century.
- Leaving for Suzdal. Free time
Day 2
Suzdal
- Meet your guide in the morning after breakfast.
- Your tour will start with a scenic boat ride along the Kamenka River. Enjoy the peaceful rural landscapes and multiple reflections of churches in the water.
- After lunch in a cozy Suzdal restaurant, we will proceed with a walking tour of the city. Discover charming wooden houses and learn about the Russian people's everyday life in the past, admire numerous ancient churches and monasteries, and visit the trading square where you can get some treats from locals. Walking around the Suzdal Kremlin, you will visualize the Russian medieval history. Climb the highest bell tower of the city to get a fantastic view from the top.
- Free time
- Transfer back to Vladimir to take a train back to Moscow
